If you find yourself in Kansas City, be sure to set time aside to visit the local shops. In 1922, The Country Club Plaza became the first outdoor shopping district in the nation. Fourteen square blocks make up this area. More than 150 restaurants and stores are located within. In addition to this, the Plaza is decorated throughout with statues, fountains and superb mosaics.
Contained in the Country Club Plaza are some upscale shops you simply should not miss. These shops have become signature Kansas City stores over time.
Known as a Kansas City tradition, Halls has been well known due to fine quality, an elegant atmosphere and outstanding service. The shop was formed by Joyce C. Hall, founder of Hallmark. An eclectic and extensive medley of both casual and career clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women are available. Personal shoppers are on hand to save shoppers time and build on the luxury of the experience. Additionally, gift and formal items, well known cosmetic lines and a Hallmark store complete the shop. Along with the Plaza shop, Halls also has a Crown Center location.
Tivol began as a one-man shop and remains one of Kansas City’s oldest family operated businesses. Additionally, Tivo has become one of the most respected jewelers in the nation. Since 1910, the luxury retailer has offered extra-personal customer service along with fine workmanship.
A landmark retail shop Nell Hill’s is worth venturing out of the Plaza for. This retail shop is known as legendary in decorating circles.
