By Blair Stover | July 30, 2012
Keeping the kids busy seems like an endless task. There are many exciting and fun activities to do with your kids in KC and not break the bank. Once the kids are tuckered out, call a good babysitter and enjoy some of Kansas City’s adult attractions reviewed by Blair Stover.
Kaleigoscope was created by Don Hall of Hallmark Cards. He wanted kids to have a place to create, explore, do and imagine. Using left-over Hallmark materials, you and your kids can create art in this delightful atmosphere during a forty minute session in the Crown Center. After which, you can catch a free Friday night movie in the Crown Center between July 2nd and August 13th. Just bring your blankets and lawn chairs.
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is another great adventure to share with your kids. Outside, you can play on the lawn while taking in the huge sculpture garden and Shuttlecocks. Then cool off while exploring the miles of exhibits, galleries and collections.
If your child is into wildlife, you will not want to miss Cave Spring Historic Site and Nature Center. More than thirty-six acres of wildlife and native plants are available here. Walking trails will guide you through the center. Kids can explore small caves and see the wildlife habitat pond.
Any time of year, kids of any age love to go to Danna Rose Children’s Farmstead. This park is twelve acres and is loaded with gorgeous gardens, pony rides, farm animals, fishing ponds, a country schoolhouse and horse-drawn wagon rides. Although not free, admission is only $2.
